December 2020

  • Fund Raising Campaign continues
  • The Library Board interviews candidates and hires a new Library Director starting Dec 15
  • Tax Bills go out with Library Campaign appeal enclosed

November 2020

  • Fund Raising Campaign continues
  • We are kicking off the fundraising campaign with Round Up For A Cause” at the Mayville Piggly Wiggly and Mayville True Value.
  • We are also taking donations on the Mayville Library website Donate Page and at the Library

October 2020

  • Fund Raising Campaign continues
  • Planning for ”Round Up For A Cause” to support the library during November and December
  • Campaign appeal in the December tax bills, also placed at TAG center, City Hall and the Library Presentations will be given to the Mayville Lions Club and the Mayville Rotary
  • A Thermometer indicating Campaign progress put in park at Horicon and Main St and Library window. Library website donation page updated, designated the following Levels of Support:
  • A Donor recognition wall will be planned as part of the new library.

  • Alixe Bielot Library Director for the past 20+ years informed the Library Board she will be retiring at the end of the year.

September 2020

  • Campaign planning committee met for planning and discussion with C.G. Schmidt representatives.
  • Materials and brochures were designed.

August 2020

  • Initiated Library Campaign Planning Committee (CPC) for Fundraising
    • Committee Members – Geri Feucht, Annie Koepsell, Kory Krieser, Grant Larson, Lisa Neumann, John Schlender, Mike Schmidt, Andy Shoemaker, Dianne Slater, Samantha Teeters, Sue Wilson, Lee Zarnott, Sheila Steger Librarian, Alixe Bielot/Jennifer Stasinopoulos Library Directors
    • Chairperson Sue Smith
  • Committee Meetings are via Zoom
  • The committee was updated on the fundraising option from CG Schmidt and discussed next steps.
  • Work was begun on an organization plan for Community Support fundraising.
    • A goal of $400,000 was established.
  • Some members of the Building Committee visited Juneau’s Library.
    • Key ideas from tour: have enough storage space, larger meeting room, lots of natural lighting, bright and colorful. Steps were outlined for moving forward. Library Design plans are at conceptual phase and next step will be to move towards a schematic plan. The committee will continue to familiarize themselves with the current plan to meet the goal of the next phase which is size and location of all rooms, updating construction estimate and hiring a construction manager. Planning still hampered by COVID-19.

July 2020

  • Resolution 5541-2020 was formally agreed to by the Mayville Common Council and the Mayville Library Board. The City of Mayville authorized the Library Board to construct a new library with donated funds. To date the Ted & Grace Bachhuber Foundation, Inc has donated $2,200,000 towards the project.
  • The City Council committed to continue to fund annual operating expenses of a new library. The Library is committed to continue with community fund raising efforts. It is agreed that the proceeds from the sale of the existing library building be donated to the construction project.

May-June 2020

  • The discussion began on fundraising – C.G. Schmidt’s Capital Campaign Fundraising Services expressed an interest in working with the committee on the fundraising program

February 2020

  • The Knights of Columbus Council 8817 presented the Mayville Public Library with a $500 donation to the Library Building Fund on Feb. 7. Knight Council Treasurer Mike Vollmer and Mark Fox met with library building committee members to present the check.

January 2020

  • COVID-19 has slowed down planning progress on the new library
    • The architect has been put on hold. The first half of the year has been taken up with formulating and agreeing to Resolution 5541-2020 – A Resolution Approving Construction and Operation of New Library with Donated Funds-Joint Resolution of City of Mayville Common Council and Mayville Library Board
