2021 Library Building Committee & Library Campaign Planning Committee (CPC)

December 2021

  • Library Building Committee/Board meetings resume with architects,
  • After a long hiatus initial floor plan and exterior designs revisited
  • Discuss basement in the new library and how that space might be utilized.
    • Basement added to the plans for storage and programming
  • Discussed the demolition of the red brick garage on the new Library site.
  • Update on the site and garage results will be next month
  • Zimmerman architects discussed new revised library plans with options
    1. layout and design of the basement.
    2. main floor of the library – Children’s Area, Teen Area, additional study rooms, conference room. re-configured multi-purpose, Friends Corner in lobby area.
  • The outside entrance, parking area and drive thru design areas were also discussed.
  • A $1M donation has been received this month from the Bachhuber Foundation
  • The total received from the Foundation is now $4.2M

November 2021

  • Review and Selection of Environmental Consultant for Phase 1
  • Review and Selection of Geotechnical Engineer for Soils Report.
  • Accept PSI Intertec to perform Phases 1 and 2
  • Review of and approval to conduct Construction Manager Request for Proposal
    1. Current engagement for Pre-Construction Services only
    2. Will include solicitation of fees and general conditions for full building project
    3. As previously discussed, trade contractors will be selected in conjunction with the Construction Manager via a public bid after the design documents are finalized.
    4. Review of methods of proposal solicitation (contractor outreach, advertising, etc.)
  • Move foreword to begin the process of selecting the Construction Manager for preconstruction purposes by sending out the Request For Proposal (RFP) with answers to be returned by January 11, 2022.

  • Review of concept plans

September 2021

  • Donations from MEC and Metalcraft raised donations over and exceeded the fundraising goal.
  • The Campaign Planning Committee met for the last time at the end of August.
  • Reaching the goal for community support is just the beginning.
  • Fundraising will continue through building of the new library and beyond
  • The Library Board considers options for moving forward,

March 2021

  • Fund Raising Campaign continues
  • March theme “Happy St Patrick’s Day”
  • By the end of the month the Library Fundraising Campaign has reached the halfway point of our $400,000 goal.
  • Once that goal is reached, the next phase of the building project can proceed. After the concept plans are finalized and blueprints are drawn, construction bidding can begin. We are looking forward to what we can accomplish in 2021!

January 2021

    • Library Board welcomes new library Director Jennifer Stasinopoulos
    • Fundraising continues work to reach goal
    • 1/19/21: The Mayville Public Library Board announced that it received an additional $1 million in early December 2020 from the Ted and Grace Bachhuber Foundation to go toward the construction of the new library. Since 2018, the foundation has donated a total of $3.2 million in support of the project. The Bachhuber Foundation donation is an important addition for the construction of the new community facility.
