Wireless Internet Access Policy

The Ted & Grace Bachhuber Memorial Library provides free, Wireless Internet access during regular library hours for anyone who has the necessary portable devices and software, via an open, unsecured network. The library makes this service available to the public as an information and educational source as part of its role as an Independent Learning Center for the community.

To access the Wi-Fi network, the user will need a laptop or other wireless device that is configured for the Wi-Fi access. The user must obtain the password at the circulation desk in order to log onto the network.

Limitations & Disclaimers

  1. The Library CANNOT GUARANTEE that the service will be available at any specific time or that you will be able to make a wireless connection.
  2. The Library CANNOT GUARANTEE Internet speed or quality of the connection. Speed is dependent upon the number of concurrent users and types of applications being run.
  3. The library DOES NOT SUPPLY electrical power for patron equipment. The patron is responsible for having charged batteries for their equipment.
  4. The library’s wireless network IS NOT meant to be used as a primary network connection for individual library customer use. Customers are expected to avoid applications that will use large amounts of network bandwidth. Examples of this would include servers and file-sharing applications.
  5. PRINTING IS NOT AVAILABLE via the wireless connection.
  6. The END USER IS RESPONSIBLE for all aspects of computer security when using their own equipment to access the wireless network. This includes antivirus, privacy protection and system integrity.
  7. The Library ASSUMES NO responsibility for any alterations or interference with a laptop’s configuration, operation, or data files resulting from connection to the Library’s wireless network.
  8. The Library ASSUMES NO responsibility for damage, theft, or loss of any kind to a user’s equipment, software, and data files or other personal property brought into or used at the Library.
  9. The Library IS NOT responsible for any changes you make to your computer or other device) settings.
  10. All customers are expected to use the Library’s wireless access in a responsible and legal manner, consistent with the informational and educational purposes for which it is provided and in conjunction with the library’s Internet Acceptable Use Policy. Customers WILL NOT violate federal, Wisconsin or local laws, including the transmission or receiving of pornography or harmful materials, fraud or downloading of copyrighted material.
